India celebrates its Republic Day on January 26 every year. It is that historic moment when India’s Constitution came into being on 26 January 1950.
Since the moment India's Constitution was drawn up, India became the largest democracy that it has come to be, and the Constitution replaced the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.
